Note for coordinators: Participants must be parents or guardians of teens aged 14 to 17 who live in Nova Scotia, Canada. Please only recruit from Nova Scotia. About This Study Thank you for your interest. We are inviting parents and guardians of teens aged 14 to 17 in Nova Scotia to complete a short screening survey for a research study. If your teen is eligible, we will ask whether you consent to their participation in a 30-45-minute virtual interview. The Decision Lab is collaborating with a Canadian youth mental health organization to understand what would make young people trust a new AI tool that helps them find mental health support and resources. We want to learn what the youth feels comfortable using AI for, and which parts of support should stay human-led. What to expect: This screening survey takes about 2 minutes and includes a few questions about your teen’s age and how they use online tools. If your teen is eligible: Your teen will join a one-on-one interview on Google Meet with one of our researchers. They will react to example scenarios and share their honest opinions, which will help shape how the tool is developed. They don’t need to share any personal information, and they can skip any part of the interview that feels uncomfortable. Teens who complete the interview will receive a $25 CAD gift card via Tremendous as a thank-you for their time. Important: This survey is for parents or guardians of teens aged 14 to 17 who currently live in Nova Scotia.
